Trojans in MP3 Files
Did you ever realize that your mp3 files can in reality be Trojans? It seems that Adware creators found a way to create fake mp3 files which would in reality be Trojans. So far hundreds of thousands of such files were downloaded to computers all around the world. This is a real threat so make sure you take some precautions.
When you open such a fake file it redirects you to a browser page, and asks to install a “media player” to help you play the mp3 file. Of course once you run it, you will realize that it is not a music file. Fortunately, there might be a way to spot a fake file just by looking at the size of it. Generally single track mp3 files should be around 1MB-10MB . If the file you downloaded has, for example, 50KB you can be sure that it is fake. Having said that, I am sure that the people behind this Trojan can find a way to artificially inflate the size of the file. You have to be careful on the Internet, and only download programs and song tracks from trusted websites. Otherwise, the data on your computer might get compromised, and you will have to worry about dangerous spyware and viruses.
