Traditional TV

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

With computers gaining more and more on popularity, I wonder what the future of television will be. For a lot of people TV is a lot less entertaining than a computer can be. That is because PCs gives a lot more possibilities than TVs. A person who watches TV a lot becomes passive, but those who spend time in front of their computers are more active, because computers require more interaction.
Computer games can be an example of an activity that requires the participant to be very active and stay alert. These days there are a lot of gamers who play computer games. Gamers train themselves constantly to become better and better in arcade games, or in any other game they are currently playing.

E-Sport

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

There is a relatively new term called e-sport which is being used by many gamers. This term was created by gamers who were observing games like Battlefield or World of Warcraft. Both of these games offer interesting fights that are entertaining to watch by other people. Will e-sports be ever as popular as regular sports? It is hard to say, but I believe that anything can happen, and in 20-30 years e-sports might be very popular, as more and more people will be spending time in front of their computers. Currently, there are tournaments being organized for the games I listed above, and a lot of people are watching them through online streaming. That is especially the case in Korea.

Adding a New Category?

Friday, August 14th, 2009

Are you thinking about adding a new category to your blog? I have an idea for an interesting category, namely “Contests”. I have been an active member of the blogging community for some time now, and have seen many bloggers organizing contests on their sites. Many of them did so in order to attract new readers, and a lot of them were willing to give out valuable rewards. What they usually offer as a prize is an item; however, there are also contests where you can win money. If you are looking for a new topic to write about, why not discuss various contests in your posts? I have already participated in a few contests, and each one of them gave me a lot of satisfaction.

Google Trends for Websites

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

Websites are a crucial element of the World Wide Web, and no wonder that webmasters like to look at trends and statistics associated with them. In order to compare different websites with each other, you may want to visit Google Trends, as you will be able to analyze some pretty interesting information. First of all, you will be able to see the search volume of keywords. You will have access to data displaying daily unique visitors for many sites. This way you can compare two different websites and see which one is more popular. While I encourage you to use this tool, it does not have as much data as other visitor tracking tools such as Alexa. That is why you should not only depend on Google Trends for traffic estimates.

Find Things to Blog About

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

When it comes to blogging, bloggers want to have the most interesting articles and information posted on their site. While there is a lot of cooperation between bloggers, you can sometimes feel the tension, especially when a blogger feels that some harm was done to him. This is often provoked by copying and pasting articles from other blogs and posting it on your own. Writing an article is not an easy task, as it requires time, focusing on your task, and original ideas among other things. Nobody wants to have his articles posted all over the Web without permission, and this also includes technology blogs. That is why I encourage bloggers to write their own articles of which they can be proud. Not everyone knows that Technorati has an interesting feature on their website called Topics. Topics is a way to navigate the conversations on the Web, based on the categories you select. You can visit one Technorati Topics page and see live streams of the newest blog posts about the topic you want. Topics pages are being updated very often, so they are different every time you visit, and the posts you see scrolling down the page, will keep you informed about what is going on right now. I think it is an interesting feature, and many bloggers are using it quite regularly to research any topic they are interested in.
